About Kimberlyn Bannerman

Kimberlyn Bannerman/Ayaba Osungbemi has trained in the Japanese Holistic field of Traditional Usui Reiki, a method of laying the hands on the body using the natural energy flow from the body to relieve aches, pains, arthritis, high blood pressure, stress, colds symptoms, sore throats and more. It has been used to heal all types of injuries, old and new, healing that area faster. Reiki has been studied in scientific research in hospitals on HIV, cancer and other serious illness and found that it reduces the symptoms or slows them down and increases blood cell count to the individual being treated.

Now doctors, nurses and chiropractors incorporate this therapy into their every day practice.  There are also holistic nurses that use reiki, massage, shiatsu, and more to private patients, and some cutting-edge hospitals have trained their intensive care nurses to learn reiki to treat patients and ease pain.  Also day spas, medi-spas, fitness centers, alternative healing centers, and even nuns may use this therapy in a session. Some people experience heat, cold, or tingling to their body or the area treated. All are individual experiences and all are good, the reason being that a particular area needed more attention. Reiki can be done on the floor on a mat, in a chair, or on a massage table. Most people describe the treatment as extremely relaxing just like a massage. Some feel an immediate change while others notice the change in how they feel as the days go by.

Kimberlyn Bannerman/Ayaba Osungbemi has trained in the African holistic field learning authentic methods of healing passed down from Nigeria, Cuba, Haiti and other indigenous peoples. Their religious practices include staying in the areas and training with the healers in ethnobotany (the study of herbs), rejuvenating baths to clean negative energy, teas for healing the body, treatments using fruit to relieve stress for the head and promote clear thinking, and much more. She has dedicated more than 15 years to studying traditional healing treatments, used by African people and their descendants as they were moved across the globe.

Ayaba Osungbemi is one of the names given to her by a priest of Nigeria. She herself is initiated in the Ifa/Yoruba religion of Nigeria as a priest of Osun. Ayaba Osungbemi has lectured at various colleges including Swarthmore, Haverford, Miami-Dade Community College, private groups, and newspapers, and is a member of the Leadership Board of Directors for the New Choices/New Options Program at the Community College of Philadelphia.  She is a certified member and holds a seat on the Board of Directors of the National African Religion Congress, Philadelphia, a non-profit international organization representing Priests and Priestesses of traditional African religions. She also is a volunteer make-up artist for Careerwardrobe a non-profit center for Women getting back into the work force in Center City Philadelphia. After their training from various Education programs, they are rewarded with brand new clothing to help re-enter today’s work force with confidence. Careerwardrobe supplies them with clothing, make-up shoes, and more so they can look professional for their job interviews.

Ayaba Osungbemi also conducted the First Black History Exhibition for the Loews Hotel of Miami Beach, Florida. She also is the former host of the Harambee internet radio program, “Beauty by Divination,” a program for women who like holistic remedies for soothing the mind, body, and soul.

She has also offered beauty techniques as a licensed esthetician and skincare therapist and has worked for companies such as Lancôme, Fashion Fair, and Clarins to name a few. But her life’s mission and passion is in Alternative Treatments and to educate others on natural treatments for the mind, body and soul.
